Overview
Kulsoom Khan is an interdisciplinary artist and educator based in New Delhi, India, with a Bachelor's in Fine Arts from Jamia Millia Islamia and a Master's in Visual Art from Dr. B. R. Ambedkar University. Her work explores themes of historical narratives, identity, geopolitics, and public spaces, with a focus on reclaiming narratives of oppression and amplifying marginalized voices. Khan’s practice addresses passive resistance, using objects of violence and barriers to create spaces of transformation and reclamation. Her projects include toy barricades and ecological experiments that challenge symbols of power and control.
Khan’s works have been exhibited at the Kochi Muziris Biennale (2021, 2023), Art for Change Residency (2020), and M.F. Hussain Art Gallery (2017-2019). Through her art, she fosters dialogues on power, resistance, and the exploitation of resources, often sparking meaningful community discussions on reclaiming spaces and narratives.
Currently based in New Delhi.
