Overview
Kahini Arte-Merchant, born on May 12, 1960, in New Delhi, India, graduated with honors from the Sir J.J. School of Art in 1979. She has held several solo exhibitions, starting with Evening at the Taj Art Gallery, Mumbai, in 1988, where proceeds were donated to the Helen Keller Institute. Notable shows include R.E.M. at Cymroza Art Gallery (2010) and Transience at Jehangir Art Gallery (2004). Her ongoing series, What is the Colour of Memory, delves into memory through diverse media.
Kahini has participated in over 90 group exhibitions globally and her works have been auctioned by Christie’s and Sotheby’s. Her art is held in collections across cities like London, New York, Berlin, and Singapore. She also received the L'Oreal-Femina Women Award for Art in 2012.
Currently based in Mumbai.
