Overview

K.T. Mathai, a Kerala-based artist, works across painting, installations, and site-specific projects, blending traditional and contemporary narratives to explore heritage, memory, and environmental conservation. A graduate of RLV College of Music and Fine Arts, Mathai has held solo exhibitions such as Nobodies’ Séance (2019, Ala Cultural Center) and Fairy Tales from a Lost Land (2008, Gallery OED, Kochi).

He has participated in group shows like Lokame Tharavad (2021, Alappuzha) and the 59th National Exhibition of Art (2018, Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi), alongside international residencies including Harmony Art Foundation (2014) and the India-Bangladesh exchange, Kranti (2023). His community-driven project, A Transparent Pact (2012), highlighted environmental conservation.

Recognized with the Kerala Lalitha Kala Akademi State Award (2008) and a Senior Fellowship from the Ministry of Culture (2011), Mathai continues to explore the intersections of art, culture, and ecology.
