Overview

Indu Antony is a multidisciplinary artist based in Bangalore and Kerala. Trained in medicine, she transitioned to art, exploring gender, public spaces, and feminist discourse. Her projects Cecilia’ed and ManiFest, India’s first drag king photo series, challenge gender norms and have been exhibited internationally.

She co-founded Kanike and Namma Katte, a women’s arts center, and established Mazhi Books to support women in self-publishing. Her solo shows include the Museum of Art and Photography, Bangalore (2023) and Blueprint12, Delhi (2021), with group exhibitions at India Art Fair (2022) and Monash Art Gallery, Australia (2021).

Antony has received awards like Artist Book of the Year (2022) and was shortlisted for the International Public Art Award, China (2021). Her curatorial projects include The Angadi Project (2020), and her books include Why Can’t Bras Have Buttons? (2021) and Directory of the Outsiders (2023).

Currently based between Bangalore and Kerela.
