Overview
Damayanti is an interdisciplinary artist with over five years of creative practice following six years of academic training in visual arts. She began her studies in painting at the College of Art and Design, University of Burdwan, West Bengal, in 2016, and earned her Master of Fine Arts from the S.N. School of Arts and Communication, Central University of Hyderabad, in 2018. There, she expanded her practice to installation art, experimenting with video, photography, sound, text, painting, and sculpture.
Her diverse experience includes working as an assistant art director in films, collaborating with performance artists, costume and stage designing for theater, and workshops with traditional 'Dhokra' artisans. Damayanti's work has been recognized through the KHOJ International Artist Residency (Peers 2018) and MAIR, supported by APRE Art House, Mumbai. She has participated in public art events, open studios, and exhibitions, including Baroda Art Trails, 079 Gallery’s Preposition 0.2 in Ahmedabad, and Abhivyakti Edition-5.
Currently based in Baroda.
