Doyel Joshi and Neil Ghose Balser are a Mumbai-based artist couple who run Howareyoufeeling.studio, a multidisciplinary art space and studio exploring emotion in relation to a subject. Their practice spans large-scale installations, performances, and interventions, combining personal heritage and traditions with inquiries into provenance.

Both artists hold a B.F.A. from Parsons, The New School, New York—Doyel specializing in Fashion Design and Sculpture, and Neil in Performance and Sound Design. Their decade-long collaboration culminated in the founding of Howareyoufeeling.studio, where they merged their individual practices.
Their wedding in Rajasthan, blending traditional and contemporary motifs through installations, was featured in Vogue's December issue. Since then, their work has garnered significant commissions, including projects for India Art Fair 2024, Sa Ladakh Art Festival 2024, the German Embassy in Delhi, the Contemporary Museum Palma Mallorca 2024, and major brands such as Hermes, Gucci, Architectural Digest, Volkswagen, Mugler, and Mercedes.
Working on new formats of public engagement and challenging contemporary practices, the studio works in an experimental format and attempts to expand the scope of what art can do outside of traditional gallery spaces.
Doyel, of Marwari heritage, grew up in Mumbai after her parents left their village, later studying in New York. Neil of German and Bengali descent, draws from his family’s diverse legacy, including a prominent tea zamindar grandfather and a wine-producing lineage in Germany.
Recent projects include a large-scale installation at India Art Fair and a performance with 50 performers at a land art festival in Leh, Ladakh, supported by the German Embassy. Their first solo exhibition, A Stone Marries an Egg 2023, featured 108 artisans in pink chiffon sarees, questioning the distinction between artisan and artist in the global production context. They recently completed a residency and installation at Xtant in Mallorca, Spain.
They live and work in Mumbai.
