Gia Singh Arora is a filmmaker, performance artist, and educator based in Mumbai, working across film, movement, and experiential installation. Rooted in somatic practice, her work explores gender, intimacy, and the politics of the body through a lens that is both personal and participatory.
Her performances, including Man-Eater (2022–23) at Method Gallery, Soho House, and Rasa Arts, and The Ghost Dance (2023) at Art & Charlie, challenge how bodies are seen, held, and controlled—whether through light, movement, or touch. Her immersive piece Sheer (2022), performed at Kathiwada City House, engaged with Saviya Lopes’ installation The Birthday Suit, questioning the act of unveiling and exposure.
She was awarded a G5A grant for her upcoming performance Entering Dance, premiering in May 2025. Her work has been showcased at Serendipity Arts Festival, Birmingham Dance Film Festival, 16mm Film Festival, and In/Motion Chicago, and she has been featured in Vogue Italia’s “Women on the Rise.”
Gia continues to explore how we move through bodies, spaces, and stories—blurring the lines between seeing, feeling, and experiencing.
