Anette Friedrich Johannessen (Performance Art Bergen)

Anette Friedrich Johannessen (b. 1980, Norway) is a performance artist based on Askøy, near Bergen. Her work explores ritual, embodiment, and the shifting relationship between body, audience, and environment, often through site-specific and collaborative projects.


She studied drawing at Camberwell College of Arts in London and is currently completing an MA in Fine Arts at the Faculty of Fine Art, Music and Design (KMD) in Bergen. Since 2017 she has been on the board at Performance Art Bergen (PAB), where she also curates and organizes performance festivals and programs. In addition, she teaches performance art at the Bergen School of Architecture. Her performances have been presented internationally, including in the USA, Germany, Sweden, Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Thailand, China, and the UK, as well as across Norway.


She has held solo exhibitions at Visningsrommet USF (Bergen) and Institut Für Alles Mögliche (Berlin), and undertaken residencies in Lofoten, Spitsbergen, Vadsø, Berlin, and Finland.


Johannessen’s work has been supported by OCA, Nordic Culture Point, and the Municipality of Bergen, and has been featured in publications such as The Routledge Companion to Performance Art (2025).
