Overview

Tapan Moharana received his MFA in Sculpture from Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata (2014). His artistic trajectory encompasses a fusion of diverse local and indigenous art forms, notably integrating shadow puppetry and Shadow theatre traditions intrinsic to his immediate milieu. He has held several solo exhibitions like The Cube, Paper Mountain Initiative, Perth WA, 2017 and Lighted Cave, India Art Fair, Space 118, 2022. His Group Exhibitions include Metaphors For Land, curated by Shristi Sainani, APRE Art House, 2023;  Shared Spaces, Kala Chaupal, Gurugram, 2019 and Returning to the Earth, Italian Embassy and Cultural Centre, New Delhi, 2018, amongst others. Moharana has been a part of various Residency programs such as Pro Helvetia Studio Residency, Gleis70, Zurich, Switzerland, 2023 and Soda Artist In Residency, Curtin University, Perth, Australia, 2017 amongst others.
