Overview

Madhurjya is a multidisciplinary visual artist based in Goa, India, with graduate and postgraduate degrees in Painting from M.S. University Baroda. His work critically examines the dominant histories of India's North-Eastern region, focusing on themes of marginalization, forced nationalization, and freedom politics through oral histories, personal testimonies, and photographic records.

He has participated in numerous exhibitions and workshops, including However the Image Enters its Force Remains at Vadehra Art Gallery (2024), Yesterday Came Suddenly at Bikaner House (2024), and From Zero to Hundred at HH Art Spaces, Goa (2023). His other notable exhibitions include India Art Fair (2023), States of Disarray (2021), and The Shepard Tone, Five Million Incidents (2020).

Madhurjya has received several awards, including the Jeram Patel Award (2018), KHOJ Artist Support Grant (2020), and the FICA Emerging Artist Award (2022).

Currently based in Goa.
