Prahlad Kakkar

Prahlad Kakar began his career in advertising in the early ’70s at ASP Delhi before assisting filmmaker Shyam Benegal on classics like Ankur, Nishant, Manthan, and Bhumika. In 1977, he founded Genesis Film Productions, one of India’s top ad production houses, pioneering a unique style of television advertising.

Known as the “Ad Guru”, Prahlad created iconic campaigns such as Pepsi ("Yehi heh right choice baby! Aha!"), Gold Spot ("The Zing Thing"), Maggi ("2 minutes?"), Britannia ("Ting ting ti ting"), Limca ("Zor ka Jhatka"), and Maggi Sauces ("It's different!"). His clients include Pepsico, Nestlé, Britannia, P&G, Sony Entertainment, Mastercard, Visa, Pizza Hut, and Fab India, among others.

His groundbreaking work earned him AAA’s "Campaign of the Year" for Pepsi, New York Festival Awards for Ceat, and Cannes Lions nominations. He received the IAAFA Lifetime Achievement Award (1999), and Brand Equity named Genesis the "Top Production House" in 2003 & 2004.

Beyond advertising, Prahlad founded Lacadives, India’s first scuba diving school, and co-founded ReefWatch Marine Conservation. His passion for branding and mentorship led him to establish PKSBE (Prahlad Kakar School of Branding & Entrepreneurship) in 2016, where he continues to inspire young minds in media, branding, and business innovation.
