Curator's Conversations | Edition 4


How do curators grapple with what is unsaid, unseen, or systematically left out? What might silence make possible in exhibition-making? This session will consider curatorial strategies that foreground erasure- whether historical, cultural, or political- and engage the ethical demands of representation.


Speakers:

Annie Fletcher is Director of IMMA, Dublin. Previously Chief Curator at the Van Abbemuseum, Eindhoven, she is also co-founder of If I Can’t Dance, I Don’t Want To Be Part Of Your Revolution (2005–10). Her curatorial projects include EVA International (2012), and she has served on juries such as the Turner Prize (2014), the Venice Biennale (2016), and the Preis der Nationalgalerie (2019).


Natasha Marie Llorens is a professor of art theory at the Royal Institute of Art and co-chair of the Center for Art and the Political Imaginary. She writes on North African and Middle Eastern contemporary art, feminist and queer politics, and decolonial curatorial practice, and won the 2022 Andy Warhol Art Writers Grant. Her recent and upcoming projects explore Algerian socialism, minor transnationalism, and the esoteric agency of the natural world.


Radhika Hettiarachchi is a public historian, researcher, and peacebuilding practitiner with 20 years of experience in Sri Lanka, working through art, oral history, and storytelling on gender, justice, and peace. She co-founded Herstories Project, The Community Memorialisation Project, and The Women’s Histories of Sex Work. Radhika has curated major initiatives including Colomboscope (2014–15) and It’s About Time (2019), and holds a Master’s from LSE.


Fatimah Hossaini is an Afghan artist, photographer, and founder of Mastooraat Organization, a Kabul-based nonprofit that aims to empower women through art and photography. Her work explores identity and femininity in Afghanistan and has been exhibited internationally. She is a Hypatia International Award winner and a Rising Talent of the Women’s Forum in France.


Jasmine Wahi is a curator, educator, and activist known for her intersectional approach to art and social justice. She is the Founder of Project for Empty Space and former Social Justice Curator at the Bronx Museum, with work focused on amplifying marginalized voices. Wahi is a recipient of the Met Museum’s Civic Leadership Award for her impact on arts and community engagement.


Sadya Mizan is a curator, researcher, and founder of URONTO Artist Community, leading site-responsive and socially engaged art projects across Bangladesh and beyond. Her work bridges art, heritage, environment, and advocacy, with a focus on memory, displacement, and cultural sustainability. Sadya has curated internationally, held fellowships with institutions like Akademie Schloss Solitude and Art Think South Asia, and is committed to inclusive, community-centered practices.


Prerna S.M. Jain is the Gallery Director of APRE Art House, Mumbai. She holds a Master’s in Modern and Contemporary Art from Christie’s Education, New York, and a BFA from Rachana Sansad, Mumbai. Her curatorial and critical practice is informed by experience at institutions such as Christie’s New York. Jain has written for New York Artnews, The Daily Star, and Kashmir Reader, and regularly lectures at institutions including Sir JJ School of Art, where she also teaches Art Business.
