Measuring Life With Coffee Spoons

Measuring Life With Coffee Spoons

Measuring Life with Coffee Spoons

On View: 21st March

Drawing from the poems by T.S. Eliot and Allen Ginsberg, the exhibition undertakes an investigation into the nuanced interplay between private, introspective realms and the external socio-cultural milieu. It dissects the emotional, societal, and psychological dynamics that govern human experiences within these delineated spheres. As T.S. Eliot's "The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock" reminds us, "I have measured out my life with coffee spoons," the exhibition offers an unfiltered view into the private spaces of the mind.

The concept of intimacy, being inherently multi-dimensional, finds its ground within the domestic. Eliot's work provides a poetic lens through which to contemplate the innermost thoughts, anxieties, and introspections that take place within our homes. Just as Prufrock measures his life with "coffee spoons," we often measure our domestic existence by quotidian rituals— instances of solitude and contemplation, hidden from the public eye.

Ginsberg's "Howl" emerges as a provocative counterpart, celebrating rebellion, non-conformity, and the dissonance often found within the domestic landscape. The exhibition challenges societal conventions and questions the "best minds of [a] generation," exploring the power of intimate spaces to confront and challenge norms, provoke thought, and push the boundaries of artistic expression. The exhibition endeavors to challenge entrenched societal mores and interrogate the "best minds of [a] generation," thereby elucidating the potency of intimate spaces in subverting norms, stimulating cogitation, and transgressing the frontiers of artistic expression.

The exhibition invites the viewer to embark on a journey through the labyrinthine corridors of personal relationships, self-exploration, and vulnerability. This exploration prompts reflection on the layers of meaning embedded within each artwork, the dialogue between the personal and the provocative, and the intricate narrative of human experiences.
